ECR Steering Group - Call for Members
Purpose
We are delighted to invite applicants from Early Career Researchers (ECRs) to co-lead the NetworkPlus for Analytical Behavioural Science for security and defence (NABS+) ECR Steering Group. NABS+ considers ECR status to be self-defined rather than defined by years’ post-PhD or job title: If you have, or are currently completing, your PhD with some research experience relating to security and defence we welcome your application. NABS+ recognises the importance of nurturing talent to ensure the next generation of behavioural and social scientists have the skills and opportunities to succeed in this field. To support this aim, and ensure our activities are tailored to the most pressing needs, NABS+ seeks an ECR Steering Group to further shape and develop the program’s activity.
We are looking to recruit up to five (5) members for the ECR Steering Group. The post will last two years. In this role, you will work closely with the NABS+ lead for Career Development (Sophie Nightingale) and other members of the NABS+ management and admin team.
In this voluntary role you will be responsible for representing the wider ECR community. You will gain experience in governance and have the opportunity to shape the experiences of other ECRs by influencing the activities of the NABS+ ECR program.
ECR Steering Group Member Role
- Represent the ECR community by gathering insight around the key challenges ECRs face and areas of development need, and report this back to the Group and NABS+ management team to positively influence the direction of the NABS+ ECR program
- Propose activities, and where appropriate, take a leadership role in their planning (with support from the NABS+ team and access to a small budget).
- Provide feedback and evaluation on NABS+ ECR activity and offer constructive suggestions for future activity
- Attend, and actively engage in, up to three meetings per year, two via Teams and one in person (NABS+ will cover reasonable travel expenses for in-person meetings)
