The Network for Analytical Behavioural Science in Security and Defence (NABS+) is a UKRI-funded network focused on developing the next generation of behavioural science and behavioural scientists for national security and defence.
NABS+ brings together a cross-sector community of researchers, policymakers, and practitioners who recognise the value of new forms of data and analytics in understanding and addressing security risks. We welcome anyone with an interest in large and small data, complex policy challenges, and working collaboratively with stakeholder groups.
Through events, funding, training and knowledge exchange, NABS+ supports members to shape thinking through workshops and conferences, and to contribute to small projects that advance the field.
NABS+ works alongside CREST and other UKRI investments to help build a community better equipped to respond to emerging, acute and long-term threats. Our members are supported to work across disciplines, navigate policy dilemmas, and apply behavioural and social science to real-world challenges in security and defence.
Funding Statement
NABS+ (Network Plus for Analytical Behavioural Science for security and defence) is a UKRI funded network plus initiative aimed at advancing next-generation behavioural science for security and defence.
It will embrace new forms of data and analytics in behavioural science to develop a community that is better equipped to respond to existential and acute threats, who understand and can navigate policy dilemmas, and are adept at working with both ‘big’ and ‘small’ data.
Its funding is administered by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC Award ES/V002775/1). The views expressed by the researchers and team members are their own and should not be taken as representative of views held by those who fund NABS+.
